It’s time. You NEEEEEEEED this. You know you want to. But it can be hard to get away, am I right? What if I show you how you can “get away” with the girls – in your own home? Today? Tonight? And how you can send the love home with your friends by giving them this diva party in an amazing gift basket? Spa-Cation. Yes, it’s a thing. Spa-Cation.

Start by inviting a few of your girlfriends over telling them about this amazing Spa-Cation they are about to experience. Keep it small so that it remains fun yet peaceful and relaxing. You can start by greeting your guests when they arrive with warmed hand towels.
You can soak simple white hand towels in a shallow dish with warm water. I would start with the relaxation right from the get go. Add a couple of drops of lavender essential oil in the water that you soak the towels in for a beautiful, relaxing scent-sation. You can warm the towels in the microwave and cover them with plastic wrap to keep them warm as your guests arrive. I really like these: Luxury Hotel & Spa Towel 100% Genuine Turkish Cotton (White, Wash Cloth – Set of 12).
Invite everyone to the living room or somewhere comfortable. Scented candles can contain all number of chemicals that can be toxic. NOT relaxing.
Paraffin is a petroleum waste product and has to be deodorized and chemically bleached before it can be made in to wax.
Most candles are made of paraffin wax, which creates highly toxic benzene and toluene when burned (both are known carcinogens). In fact, the toxins released from paraffin candles are the same as those found in diesel fuel fumes.
On top of that, many scented candles also have wicks that contain heavy metals like lead, and even a few hours of burning them can create levels of airborne heavy metals that are much higher than the acceptable limits. In the US, candle wicks are supposed to be made of cotton or paper, but studies have found that as much as 30% of candles contain heavy metals in the wicks.
Try using an ultrasonic essential oil diffuser for a safe, refreshing, and healthier alternative to potentially toxic paraffin candles. Many essential oils are known for their calming and relaxing properties and could be diffused, including lavender. If you want to learn more about my family’s start with essential oils, which oils we use and why and the most cost efficient way to get a great essential oil diffuser, along with a great collection of oils, click here.
Get everyone a snack and a beverage! Cucumber, mint and a drop of lime essential oil in a glass of ice water, still or sparkling, make a truly refreshing start to the evening. Champagne can be garnished with fresh, juicy slices of orange and you can add a drop of orange or tangerine essential oil for just the right pick me up. If you and the girls are hanging our for a while, check out my recipe for an amazing margarita with lime essential oil!
What happens next at your Spa-Cation is completely up to you – easy and sociable to down right extravagent! You can provide Spa-Cation treatments for one another or you can hire one or more experienced aestheticians to come in and pamper everyone. Manicures, pedicures, massages, facial masks, hair wraps, you name it!
I don’t want my guests leaving our Spa-Cation empty handed, so I put together small Spa-Cation gift baskets. I chose a super easy, pretty, and wonderfully scented fresh citrus sugar scrub recipe to include. I found it over at my friend Melissa’s blog, Fireflies and Mudpies.
I also used my friend Clare’s recipe for the dry skin natural moisturizer at her blog Super Mommy Club. I included several essential oils so the girls could try out some of the other wonderful recipes for peace and relaxation that are included here. I’m sharing some wonderful recipes from a couple of great blogs for both a facial mask and a conditioning hair wrap.
